Pigeons flew into the aircraft hangar daily and perched in the ceiling structure. They caused frequent and costly cleaning of materials and floor surfaces. The parked aircraft had to be painstakingly wrapped by hand to prevent damage from bird droppings.

The laser system can be an effective aid in deterring pigeons, although it's not a complete solution. In our case, it only works in the upper area (22 to 28 meters) of the hangar (12,000 square meters). Since its installation, the pigeons in our hangar are no longer concentrated in one spot but are spread throughout the hall, making work possible again. Before the installation, working directly beneath the pigeons was practically impossible due to their droppings.
The number of pigeons also decreased from about 50 to about 20 after the installation. Our hall's construction is detrimental to the system's effectiveness. The lasers are forced to project their beam onto the hall's support structure, and the pigeons perch above it. Due to the lack of a stimulus, their flight instinct isn't triggered, and they remain in place. If the laser point visibly approaches a pigeon, it flees. This is true even on days when the hall is very bright due to sunlight.
