Information on the individual bird species

Birds that cause problems in agriculture, industry, or the working and living environment of humans are generally referred to as pest birds. 

 Typical problems:

 

  • Hygiene and noise problems caused by nesting and droppings 

  • Odor nuisance from the waste

  • High cleaning costs due to nests, droppings and feathers

  • Damage to buildings, industrial plants and machinery

  • Damage to packaging and goods

  • Health risks from parasites, e.g. in pigeons

  • Security problems at airports and marinas

  • Damage from feeding and crop failures in agriculture 

Typical problem birds include pigeons, gulls, rooks, carrion crows, jackdaws, starlings and geese
